WHAT WE TEACH
Here at E.F.A. we will teach about character and personality. We try to raise each individual to become an outstanding civilian. Aside from that, the styles that are taught are: Taekwondo, Hapkido, Judo, BJJ, Boxing, Kickboxing, Yoga and weapons. Although, we teach many styles of self-defense our students are well rounded in TKD.
We teach Olympic style sparring, forms-palgwe and taegueks and self-defense moves. Each student that trains at E.F.A. will know what’s expected of them as they gain more experience.
Just doing the moves is not enough. Proper technique is enforced and constantly demanded in each class. Everyone will also learn the name of each move in Korean and some Japanese. Also, they will learn how to count in Korean and learn basic Korean terminology.
TESTING
When a student joins E.F.A. they are given a uniform and white belt. Each student must earn 18 stripes in order to test for their next belt. The stripes our based on the belt system, minus the semi black belt: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, red, and black. After receiving all 18 stripes (9 on one end of the tip of the belt, and 9 other the other end) he/she is allowed to test for promotion. Our testing procedures are directed for TKD promotions. We our governed by the World Tae Kwon Do Federation regulations. Although, we teach many forms of self-defense, our goal is to make you a TKD Black Belt.
BELT SYSTEM
Master Correa created a curriculum for every belt in his school. Although, he believes a belt shouldn’t be what defines each practitioner in skill level, he understands that each belt carries a sense of responsibility for each martial artist. Aside from knowing certain techniques and demonstrating them properly, each belt has a meaning:
- WHITE = INNOCENCE
- YELLOW = COURAGE
- ORANGE = PATIENCE
- GREEN = HUMILITY
- BLUE = STRENGTH
- PURPLE = VALOR
- BROWN = RESPECT
- RED = SPIRIT
- SEMI BLACK = DISCIPLINE
- BLACK = WISDOM
